About Us
UK Motorbike Hire was formed when life-long biker and traveller Andy Maughan noticed that there was a lack of bike hire companies north of London. At the 2007 Isle of Man TT he noticed that a number of Kiwis had actually shipped bikes from New Zealand, others had bought bikes in the UK but had difficulty insuring them.
The first, and easiest, decision was to base the company in the historic city of York, centre of 'Gods Own Country' and surrounded by the best biking roads and finest scenery in the UK. We're located just outside the city walls about a mile from the Railway Station with it's express links to London or Manchester Airport and we're easily accessible from the ring road. If you bring your own car or bike we can store it for the duration of your hire (at your own risk).
The second decision, based on previous experience in the car hire sector, was to mainly use a fleet of new bikes and replace them regularly, that way you have the peace of mind that you are on the latest model backed up by the manufacturers warranty and recovery.
To make this possible we have included a mileage allowance in the hire rates, from experience we think they should be fine for most of our customers, we've set them to make the rates as competative as possible, if you want to do more miles you just pay for the excess used.
The hire rates include Comprehensive Insurance, UK Recovery and locks.
Sat Navs, luggage, clothing, camping gear etc can be provided for a small charge.
We hire bikes from March to October and normal pick up/drop offs are available between 9-5 Monday -Saturday, pick ups can sometimes be arranged outside these times by arrangement . If you want to come and visit before hiring please ring and make an appointment so that we can ensure that we'll be here and the bikes you're interested in are available.
Finally remember that we have a couple of schemes that allow you to either buy your hire bike at a discount or recover the hire charges when you purchase a bike from our friendly local dealers - please ask Andy for details.
